On 7 July 2026, DBG Energy’s developers and principals, Joseph Ramirez (Managing Director), Marlowe Neal (Director, Capital & Strategy), and Romel Perdomo (Head of Operations, DBG Energy Belize), appeared on 7News’ Sun Up to discuss the Belize River Valley Biochar Facility.
They explained how biochar, a natural and long-lasting soil amendment made from agricultural waste and biomass, improves soil health, helps soils hold water and nutrients, and reduces the need for chemical fertilizers. Applied once, it stays in the soil for hundreds of years, and studies in similar tropical soils have shown crop yield increases of 20% to 50%, benefiting Belize’s sugarcane, citrus, banana, and vegetable production.
The team also highlighted the project’s local impact: new jobs in construction, operations, and feedstock collection; stronger, more resilient farms and supply chains; new foreign investment and export earnings; reduced reliance on imported fertilizers; and high-quality carbon removal credits that can help fund future expansion. They noted that the project positions Belize as a regional leader in green technology.
